Become a Gazette Expert Partner with Sevantay

Steady inbound demand from Bangalore citizens needing name change, religion change, address correction, and date of birth corrections through the Karnataka State Gazette and Government of India Gazette.

The opportunity

Gazette work has reliable, recurring demand in Bangalore. Almost every name change after marriage, every document correction picked up by an HR department or a passport office, every Aadhaar mismatch flagged during a property transaction eventually leads someone to look for a gazette consultant. The work is procedural, the timelines are predictable, and the customer rarely shops aggressively on price — they want someone who has done it before and won't get them stuck mid-process.

Sevantay routes this demand to verified gazette consultants. Our citizen-facing pages rank for searches like "name change gazette Bangalore" and "Karnataka gazette procedure," which means the people who reach us are already past the awareness stage and ready to engage. They typically need name change after marriage (most common), name change for personal reasons, religion change with affidavit support, address correction in records, date of birth correction (often for educational or pension records), and father's or mother's name correction in records.

If you are a typist firm, document writer, or freelance gazette consultant already doing this work, Sevantay can be a steady source of pre-qualified customers without you having to spend on advertising or run a walk-in office.

Commercial model

Current default: ₹500 flat platform fee per completed gazette job, with the gazette consultant retaining the full service charge above that. Government gazette fee, newspaper publication charges, and notary fees are all pass-through and shown to the customer separately. Settlement on completion of gazette publication (typically 30–60 days from job start). Specifics confirmed during the onboarding call.

What we will not do: charge you any joining fee, charge you for leads that don't convert, or charge any subscription. Sevantay's revenue depends on you actually delivering successful work, which keeps our incentives aligned with yours.

Onboarding requirements

Before you apply, please confirm you meet these baseline requirements.

Experience

Minimum 1 year of hands-on gazette work, with at least 25 published gazette notifications to your credit. We will ask for sample gazette references during onboarding.

Process familiarity

Working knowledge of the Karnataka State Gazette (published every Thursday) and Government of India Gazette processes. Familiarity with Form-1 affidavit drafting, newspaper publication requirements (one English daily plus one regional), and submission protocols.

Affidavit and notary network

Ability to arrange notarised affidavits, either through your own panel or a partner notary.

Newspaper tie-ups

Established working relationships with at least one English daily and one Kannada daily for publication notices. We do not require exclusivity or named publications, but we do require that you can reliably get a notice published within 7 days.

Office or workspace

A working address in Bangalore where customers can drop off documents if needed. A home office is acceptable; a public location is not.

Identity and address proof

Aadhaar, PAN, and proof of business address. GST registration is not mandatory for individual consultants but is preferred.

Communication

Reachable on WhatsApp during business hours, basic email literacy.

What is expected of the partner

Turnaround commitment

Typical gazette publication runs 30–60 days end to end. We expect you to commit to a realistic timeline at the start of each job and update the customer if anything slips.

Customer handling

You speak to the customer as a Sevantay-affiliated consultant. Not as an independent agent trying to upsell. Not as a generic typist. Sevantay-trained tone: professional, clear, no jargon.

Documentation discipline

Every job needs a clear paper trail — affidavit copy, newspaper publication copy, gazette acknowledgement, final published gazette page. We will share a simple checklist during onboarding.

Pricing discipline

Whatever pricing you commit to during onboarding holds for at least 90 days. No surprise upcharges to the customer mid-process.

Non-exclusive, but quality-bound

You are free to take direct customers and customers from other sources. We only require that Sevantay-routed customers get the same quality and turnaround as your own customers.

Quarterly review

Every quarter we will review your delivery quality, customer feedback, and turnaround stats. Partners who consistently miss commitments may be paused.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a CA or legal qualification to partner with Sevantay as a gazette expert?

No. Gazette work is procedural and does not require a formal qualification. What matters is hands-on experience with the Karnataka State Gazette and Government of India Gazette processes, the ability to draft a clean affidavit, and a working network for newspaper publication.

Will I get name change leads only, or other gazette types as well?

Name change is the most common (typically 60–70% of leads), but you should also expect religion change requests, address corrections, date of birth corrections, and parent name corrections. We route all gazette types to verified gazette experts unless you specifically opt out of certain categories.

What if a customer's gazette gets rejected or delayed by the Government Press?

Government Press delays are part of the territory. Sevantay's customer-facing team handles the customer communication during delays. You handle the technical fix or resubmission. We do not penalise partners for delays caused by the Government Press itself.

Do I need to publish in specific newspapers?

No. We do not require named publications. We only require that you can reliably get a notice published in one English daily and one regional language daily within 7 days of receiving the affidavit. The choice of newspaper is yours.

Is the Sevantay platform fee paid by me or by the customer?

The customer pays a single bundled price that includes your service fee, the government gazette fee, and the Sevantay platform fee. Sevantay deducts its small platform fee at the time of settlement to you. You do not write a separate cheque to Sevantay.

Can I take the customer offline and bypass Sevantay?

You can take any customer offline who finds you independently. For Sevantay-routed customers, we ask that the engagement runs through Sevantay's process — primarily so we can support the customer if anything goes wrong, and so you do not lose the protection of our platform escalation. Repeated bypassing of Sevantay-routed customers is grounds for pausing the partnership.

What happens after my trial period?

Once you complete your first 1–2 trial jobs to standard, you become a regular partner. There is no fixed contract length. You can pause your availability anytime, take a holiday, or stop receiving leads, with no penalty. We just ask for a week's notice so we don't route customers to a paused partner.

Do I need to support Kannada-speaking customers?

Helpful but not mandatory. Our customer-facing team handles initial Kannada language interactions and will hand off to you in whichever language you and the customer agree on. If you can speak conversational Kannada, that is a plus and we will mention it when introducing you to the customer.
